About

As a teenager, Itamar Ziegler was one of the most sought after musicians in his native Israel, performing with top national acts and world-renowned performers. In 1997 Itamar was lured to New York City where he has lived and worked ever since. Shortly after arriving in NYC his band Side Effect was signed by Def Jam Records. In addition to his work with Pink Noise and Balkan Beat Box, Itamar has recorded and performed with acts including Firewater, Shotnez, The Blam and Victoria Hanna.

Itamar also composes for film and television. His scoring credits include the BBC documentary Blue Blood, which debuted at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, Miao Wang’s critically acclaimed documentary films  Beijing Taxi and Yellow Ox Mountain, as well as frequent collaborations with filmmaker Yoni Zigler. His music has been featured on numerous MTV programs.

Itamar’s solo albums have been his main focus in recent years;  Itamar Ziegler  (2003),  The Birds, the Sky, the Trees...all that Shit  (2006, 8th  Note Rec) and  Memories of Now  (2010 Anova Music).

“Itamar Ziegler is known to an ever-increasing audience of music lovers as one of the world's distinctive voices on bass and guitar. Whether heard with indie rock band Pink Noise, with Electro-Gypsy sensation Balkan Beat Box, with the innovative Shotnez, or on his solo records, Itamar's distinctive musical voice shines through.

There is something soul touching about the musical adventures that are the solo albums of Itamar Ziegler. These works are the product of a very personal kind of creation: Itamar records the albums at his own studio, playing almost all of the instruments himself. The music brings the intimacy of a private meditation by a brilliant musical mind straight to the listener.”

The long album title came from a homeless man I met on one of my usual walks along the Williamsburg, Brooklyn waterfront in the days before gentrification. I was taking photographs and he talked about how he once owned a great old camera. "I used to take pictures of the birds, the sky, the tress... all that shit”. Now I just had to write the music.

This first release combines instrumental tracks, songs, lo-fi 4-track recordings and collaborations with friends Brian J, Yula Beeri, Tamir Muskat, Rafi Malkiel and Martin Williams (a.k.a - Squatter and the ant). My younger brother Yoni Zigler used many of the tracks in the soundtrack for his documentary film ‘Better Than The Beatles’.
